Classification of sports.
Development of sport throughout the world has led to the emergence and spread of a plurality of individual sports, of which there are now more than 200, each of them is characterized by its subject the contest, a special compound action methods of conducting combat sports and competition rules.
The most common sports are included in the program of the Winter and Summer Olympic Games. All sports have become widespread in the world, can be classified on the specifics of the subject and the nature of the competition of physical activity into six groups (LP Matveev)
Group 1 - Sports, which are characterized by an active motor activity athletes with the ultimate manifestation of the physical and mental qualities. Sporting achievements in these sports depend on their own motor abilities of the athlete. This group includes most of the sports;
Group 2 - Sports, which are based on operational management activities with special technical means of transport (car, motorcycle, boat, plane, etc..). Athletic performance in these types is largely due to the ability to effectively manage the technical means and the quality of its manufacture;
Group 3 - sports, physical activity which is strictly limited conditions defeats the purpose of the special weapons (shooting, darts);
Group 4 - Sports, which compares the results of the model-design activity athlete (a model airplane, the car, etc..)
5th group - Sports, the main content of which is determined by the nature of competition in the abstract-logical outplaying the opponent (chess, checkers, bridge, etc..)
6th group - all-round, made up of sports disciplines included in the different groups of sports (orienteering, fox hunting, biathlon, ocean-round, all-round service, and others.).
